We are certainly partial to the Columbus Library but I know that all of the County Libraries have similar programs and activities. We’ve seen a magic show, a couple of puppet shows, played with live ducks, and we even met Santa during Christmas time! During the “off season” for story time, there are still plenty of activities to keep us busy. Story time usually matches the school calendar so it runs from September through early December and then from January to May. The kids are usually getting restless at this point so she busts out the beanbags or ribbon wands and we sing songs and dance. Then we always finish with a craft that relates to the theme of the day. There are usually songs, a nursery rhyme or two and then a couple of stories. Laurie the librarian always has something fun for the kids to do. We usually try to hit story time at the Library. They usually have a giant coloring page taped to a table for them to color on. My kids have always loved this rocking dragon. Our local library has toys and games for the kids to play with. I love that I can throw on their coats and their shoes and we’ll spend an hour or so at the library getting a change of scenery. We’ve been going at least a couple times a month since my oldest was a baby. It’s this beautiful old historic building in South Salt Lake. One of the places that we love to visit is the Columbus Library near our house.
